Rival Boxing – RS1 Pro Sparring Gloves

Today we are reviewing the 16oz RS1 Pro Sparring Gloves from Rival Boxing.

Rival Boxing have designed a comfortable and stylish sparring glove for serious athletes. RS1 Pro sparring gloves specifications:

  • 1.0 mm full grain all-leather construction;
  • Rival’s « Ergo Lace Track System »;
  • 15° angled “Lace Track” at wrist for anatomical fit;
  • “X-Lace Track” on cuff for perfect lacing every time;
  • The “Lace-Track” eliminates risk of lace burns;
  • Unique Conic design and snug fitting long cuff for optimal wrist support;
  • Over 40 mm (1,75″) of layered foam padding;
  • Ultra-comfortable laminated inner lining

Before going any further I have to say that the fit of the RS1 Pro gloves is amazing! Very comfortable. A great fist right out of the box.

Rival Boxing - RS1 Pro Sparring Gloves

When you slip your hand into the glove, it feels like you are putting on a well made, well padded winter glove. The moisture wicking capabilities work well and excessive heat should not be a problem. The glove has the grip bar feature, fits very well, and making a fist feels very natural. This model is listed as the “long cuff” version and should probably be more aptly named as, “the perfect length” version, for anyone who is interested in something other than a “short cuff” version. The longer cuff length, and lace up version provides excellent wrist support and padding.

Rival Boxing - RS1 Pro Sparring Gloves

The gloves are professional grade, and the design, material, and workmanship are high quality. The thick, full grain, high quality leather has a semi-soft broken in, yet very durable feel to it. The gloves are very well padded in the fist, thumb, wrist, and on any contact areas. The padding thickness is 1.75″+ and the composition is what I consider to be optimum for protection to your hands, and your sparring partner. The stitching is high quality, it does not wander, and it is reinforced in all stress areas.

The wrist support on the RS1’s is second to none. They are about the best that I have seen in that area and personally think that they feel better than the Cleto Reyes.

The RS1s are a high quality glove, but feel lighter than Reyes and no leather beats the leather on the Reyes IMO. The wrist support on the RS1s is superior and the padding is more protective for sparring than the Reyes. In the world of sparring gloves, often times compromises have to be made in regards to comfort for the sake of security; that is untrue in this case, because these Rs1 gloves are built in such a way as to be extremely comfortable during use.

Rival Boxing - RS1 Pro Sparring Gloves

The graphics are micro injected, and labels are well done and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The internal lining is a soft, smooth, snag free material that envelopes the hand and wrist, and the internal wrist area is stitched compartmentally to prevent any shifting or clumping of the internal padding. This is an additional plus in the design, as I do not believe the type of internal padding used would be prone to clump anyway.

Rival Boxing - RS1 Pro Sparring Gloves

The Ergolace “X-Track” System allows you to criss cross the laces around the glove cuff, and they are laid below the surface in tracks that run between the padding. Not only is it a more secure lacing method, but it should also just about virtually eliminate the possibility of lace burns. These features are an “innovative design”, and a long overdue, welcome design improvement.

The other feature is the 15 Degree Anatomically Angled Wrist. This feature is not excessive and not only feels very comfortable and natural, but it also aids in having the punch strike impact on the proper section of the knuckles and fist.

In terms of performance these gloves are 10/10, absolutely great. The RS1 gloves are exceptionally nice, well made, that the dedicated enthusiast would be very pleased to own. They are certainly very well worth the current asking price of €179.99.

Cleto Reyes Ireland

Cleto Reyes Boxing Gear Worn by fighters the world over, is the most famous boxing brand on Earth.

Made in Mexico and famous through sponsoring the likes of Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao and more, Reyes is the last word in quality and performance. And what makes Cleto Reyes so special though and how did the brand that’s delivered knockout blows to thousands become the weapon of choice for fistic legends the world over?

The story starts on April 26th 1920 in Mexico City, where Cleto Reyes Castro was born. Facing extreme poverty the young Cleto started working at the age of 12 in a saddlery that manufactured baseball goods.

In 1936, while he was going to elementary school in premises across from the famed “Peralvillo Cozumel” ring, his love for boxing was born. In 1938, Cleto Reyes took part in his first amateur fight, however his performance was so poor that the crowd rained down coins on him and he decided from that moment on that his future lay outside of the ring. He chose instead to mend the gloves he had used during the fight and this started his career in glove manufacture.

Subsequently his gloves obtained the approval of the local boxing commission (COMBOX DF), and in 1945 the Cleto Reyes gloves were used in a world championship fight for first time and “La Condesa Arena” was the setting of the fight between the second Mexican Champion Juan Zurita and Ike Williams.

In 1965, he had his first salesman in Los Angeles who began distributing his products in the most important cities of the United States and some other countries, the message spread from there.

In 1970, by which time Don Cleto’s health was ailing, his son Alberto Reyes joined the family company and with his entrepreneurial vision, decided to register the trademark Cleto Reyes in 1975 and to found Industria Reyes S.A. de C.V. in 1979.

What makes a Cleto Reyes glove special? Well that is something hard to define, the brand conjurs up imagines of Mexican warriors of the past – Julio Cesar Chavevz and Erik Morales. Some say they “hit harder” with a Cleto. Prince Naseem Hamed went as far as ordering a custom made pair in goat skin for his fight with Marco Antonio Barrera and having his brother fly on a private jet to collect them! Cleto Reyes boxing gloves seem to say “I am here to fight” and perhaps thats why boxers choose them to this very day.

Serious boxers should look no where else for their fight gloves. Cleto Reyes might be more expensive than competitors, but the quality shines through and makes the price worthwhile. Quite simply the best boxing gear we stock.

Fightstore Ireland is a registered dealer of Cleto Reyes as well as national distributor in the Republic of Ireland. Pick up your set of Cleto’s in our online shop.

What is CBD Oil (Cannabidiol Hemp Oil)?

Within the swiftly growing cannabis oil industry is a new category of products seeing its own equally rapid rise in popularity: cannabidiol hemp oil, or CBD Oil.

These highly demanded hemp derived products are available for purchase online and delivery straight to your door, or at retailers in over 40 countries around the world.

CBD oil is made from high-CBD, low-THC hemp, unlike medical marijuana products, which are usually made from plants with high concentrations of psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Because hemp contains only trace amounts of THC, these hemp oil products are non-psychoactive.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is just one of over 85 cannabinoids presently identified in the cannabis plant and is the second most abundant cannabinoid in marijuana after THC. In hemp, however, THC is only present in trace amounts, while CBD dominates the plant’s makeup. CBD interacts with our naturally occurring systems, but is non-psychotropic, it doesn’t cause a high. This makes it a safer, less controversial alternative, while still offering significant health benefits.

Why Use Cannabidiol CBD Oil Supplements?

CBD has become a highly sought after compound in recent years, taking the natural products industry by storm after receiving highly publicized exposure in the media, including in Sanjay Gupta’s special, “Weed”, which first premiered on CNN. Since then, CBD oil products have appeared on shelves in doctors offices, medical marijuana dispensaries and grocery stores alike, with no medical card required to purchase.

CBD interacts with the body through the endogenous cannabinoid system (ECS) or endocannabinoid system. First discovered in the late 1980’s, the endocannabinoid system regulates the body’s homeostasis, or general state of balance, impacting such functions as mood, sleep, appetite, hormone regulation, and pain and immune response. Like an acrobat on a highwire, as the environment around us impacts our normal balance, the endocannabinoid system “corrects” by mediating our body’s reaction to keep us level.

Found in all mammals, the endocannabinoid system is made up of millions of cannabinoid receptor sites located primarily throughout the brain and central nervous system (CB1 receptors) and immune system (CB2 receptors) that act in neural communication.

However, the endocannabinoid system doesn’t simply rely on plant-based cannabinoids, or phytocannabinoids. The human body is capable of making its own cannabinoids. Similar in function to CBD, Anandamide and 2-AG are the body’s own endocannabinoids, created to control communication between cells, mediating your body’s functions.

It’s clear that the endocannabinoid system is one of the most important regulatory systems in the human body, but most people do very little to support the health of this system, because cannabinoids have not been part of the average diet.

What Makes Hemp CBD Oil Unique?

The naturally low-THC hemp plant, a non-psychoactive of cannabis, grown in many countries around the world and imported into the United States for use in textiles, building materials, and of course nutritional supplements and foods.

There are thousands of unique varieties of hemp. The cultivars used for CBD oil contain significantly higher concentrations of CBD than others. Using these uniquely potent plants, it is possible to extract cannabis oil that contains a significant levels of cannabidiol, as well as essential vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, terpenes, flavonoids, and other non-psychoactive cannabinoids.

CBD oil is also significantly different than the hemp seeds or organic hemp oil you commonly find in grocery stores. Derived only from hemp seeds, hemp seed oil is a great nutritional supplement, containing many vitamins and minerals and other healthy constituents, but it does not contain cannabidiol.

In the past decade or more, there have been over 23,000 of studies published in peer reviewed medical journals detailing the effects of cannabis, cannabis oil, and cannabinoids on the body.

Now that families, legislators, scientists, and more are becoming aware of the potential of cannabidiol, hemp CBD oil presents a game changing solution in the supplement marketplace, providing all the benefits CBD, without the high of marijuana, that thousands of people already count on every day.

What Types of Hemp CBD Oil Products Are Available?

The uses of CBD hemp oil are as varied as the customers who order it. With that in mind, there are a wide variety of CBD hemp oil products available, ranging in price and potency, to meet the needs of everyone.

  • Pure CBD Oil: The most potent type of CBD product available is pure CBD oil, known as Real Scientific Hemp Oil™ (RSHO™). This all natural hemp oil is simply extracted from the stalk of the hemp plant, tested for quality, and packaged for sale with no additives. These pure oils have the highest concentration of CBD, usually 100mg or more per serving.
  • CBD Tinctures or Liquids: Some of the most popular hemp CBD oil products are in liquid form, made by diluting the pure hemp CBD oil into an alcohol or other natural oil base.
Also commonly referred to as CBD tinctures or sprays, there are a variety of great benefits to CBD liquids. They usually offer a smaller serving of CBD, from 1-20mg per serving, which is enough for most people.CBD liquids also come in great flavors, making CBD enjoyable for children, or anyone with a sweet tooth.

Best of all, CBD tinctures, liquids or sprays are some of the most affordable CBD products on  the market.

  • CBD Capsules: Most people are used to taking a morning multivitamin, so with CBD oil capsules, it’s easy to get your CBD into your daily routine. Most CBD capsules contain a moderate serving of CBD, usually 25 mg or more. If you start your day with your morning fish oil capsule or multivitamin, CBD capsules could be for you.
  • CBD Topicals: Not all CBD oil products are taken internally. CBD oil topicals like soothing salves and balms can be rubbed directly onto the skin. Many CBD topicals are enriched with all-natural essential oils and botanical blends, these luxurious balms are rubbed into the skin, muscles, and joints for focused attention to trouble areas.

Check out the Canavape’s frequently asked questions on CBD for more information.

Canavape’s frequently asked questions: CBD, Cannabidiol, Cannabigerol, CBG, etc

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the least 85 active cannabinoids identified in cannabis. The CBD oils and waxes, terpenes and isolates used by Canavape® come from commercially grown, organic hemp plants which are naturally high in CBD and low in THC.

Factual and straightforward information on the potential benefits of Cannabinoids is available online by using a popular search engine. It is always wise to stick to reading accurate, factual case studies surrounding CBD rather than information on a products page.

Canavape products also contain a host of legal cannabinoids found in whole plant (full spectrum) extracts including CBD, CBG, CBDv to name a few.

Canavape® will always manufacture products using real, organic CBD oils alongside the finest isolated CBD, CBG or cannabinoid available.

The cannabis plant has over 100 active cannabinoids each with different properties. Most research and attention has been given to the major compounds; Delta-9 Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD), although there are many others, which are being discovered as time goes on. Cannabigerol (CBG) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found during the early stages of the growing cycle and can be extracted from budding plants roughly three quarters of the way through their flowering stage. This makes CBG one of the most valuable and potenitally beneficial cannabinoids that we know of.

Cannabinoids are most effective when used alongside each other. This creates what is known as the ‘entourage effect’. Canavape® and NV Biotech are proud to be the first company in the UK to launch Cannabigerol based products.

  • How strong are your products & what % are they?

Canavape® do not express the strength of their products as a percentage on the bottle. Instead they tell you exactly how many milligrams or MG’s there are within your bottle (CBD and CBG). Canavape believe percentages can be very misleading unless you know exactly how to calculate a % based on the original compounds added to a product. You request HPLC analysis for the oils and pure compounds used in the manufacture of the products from NV Biotech.

As an example for you, the 250MG CBD E Liquid in a 15ML bottle would give you a CBD % of 1.67%

Currently in the laboratory we have:

100% CBD Isolate

27% CBD hemp oil (Golden in colour)

50% CBD Hemp oil (Dark gold in colour)

98.8% CBG Cannabigerol

We have a couple of variants when it comes to PG (propylene glycol) and VG (vegetable glycerin) ratios.

1) Canavape® CBD E Liquids are 60% VG : 40% PG. Made using a thin golden organic oil it makes for an awesome CBD vape.

2) MediVapour™ and MediVapour Gold are always 100% organic Kosher VG. This does not change.

3) Canavape® Complete cannabinoid liquid uses a combination of PG, VG and PEG

Yes they are. All crops are grown under strict government licence.

None of our products contain THC, the cannabinoid scheduled as a Class B substance under the UK Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, Irish and EU law. Regulation (EC) 1672/2000 states that cannabis sativa plants containing 0.2% tetrahydrocannabinol or less can be approved for cultivation as hemp.

CBD, CBDV & CBG have no psychoactive effects and are not subject to any legal restrictions on their import, sale, possession or use. There are increasing number of reports and studies showing a variety of benefits from Cannabinoids. Canavape® and NV Biotech are proud to be the first in the UK and Ireland to offer these.

Our products contain no psychoactive ingredients and are all 100% legal.

  • Will I get high from Canavape® cannabinoid products?

No, all products manufactured by NV Biotech contain non-psychoactive legal cannabinoids found in whole plant (full spectrum) extracts.

Our products are made from supercritical CO2 extraction of the Cannabis sativa plant, with naturally occurring high amounts of Cannabidiol (CBD), Cannabigerol (CBG) and trace amounts of Delta-9 Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC – the main compound which cases you to feel “high”).

  • What category do your products fall under?

All products manufactured by NV Biotech (Canavape®, MediVapour™, ECS™ Gold Drops) are intended as a food supplement until further notice and can be used to optimise your well-being.

Yes you can… but please consider the below:

Canavape® stock personal vaping devices or “E cigs” and we choose the models based on experience and proven performance. All E liquids work best in purpose built “E Cigs” rather than disposable or the cheaper style slim line pens. If you currently own a slim line pen device with a 0.5ml or 1ml cartridge then its definitely worth upgrading your setup to maximize the benefits of our Cannabinoid products.

You may also find it useful to know that vaping Canavape® CBD E liquids works out to be over 40% better value for money vs the slim line pens with expensive replacement cartridges. We strongly advise upgrading to a popular E Cig device if you currently use a slim line pen. This is so you get the most out of your CBD, CBG or Cannabinoid vape product.

  • What is a “tincture” and how do I use an oral cannabinoid product?

Traditionally a tincture would be a medicine made by dissolving a drug in alcohol. However our modern definition would be more along the lines of; a compound suspended in carrier oils to aid absorption and bioavailability.

Our hemp oil tinctures are oral products designed for sublingual absorption, meaning under the tongue.

To absorb, simply drop under the tongue and hold for at least 90 seconds. Some oral cannabinoid products taste nice, some can taste strong and not so pleasant. This is normal dependent on the product.

Oral oils and tinctures are not for use in electronic cigarettes and will damage your device. Please only use orally!

  • What is CBDv (Cannabidivarin)?

Cannabidivarin (CBDv) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid very similar to cannabidiol (CBD).

There has been very little clinical research into CBDv. However, several studies have been conducted over the past few years in countries including the UK.

A 2013 study by the University of Reading in London published by the National Institute of Health revealed that CBDv may be effective in treating epilepsy and other conditions involving seizures.

They already include CBDv in the Canavape® Complete cannabinoid liquid only in a very small measurement. As we learn more about CBDv and its usefulness alongside CBG and CBD they will increase the amount within the formulations.

  • What does bioavailability mean?

Bioavailability means the fraction of an administered dose of unchanged drug that reaches the systemic circulation, one of the principal pharmacokinetic properties of drugs. By definition, when a medication is administered intravenously, its bioavailability is 100%. When vaped and absorbed through the loungs this can drop to 60% – 80% and lower for oral applications. For this reason we use carrier oils in our oral based CBD, CBG, CBDv products which the body absorbs along with these amazing Cannabinoids,

  • What is a “Cannabinoid”?

Cannabinoids are simply chemical compounds that act on cannabinoid receptors on cells that repress neurotransmitter release throughout the brain. The most well-known cannabinoids include CBD, THC, CBG, CBN and THCa. More recently CBDv has been studied however its properties are still very unknown.

  • Where are these products made?

Canavape® is a limited company belonging to NV Biotech based in Camden Town London. When we say “based” here we mean they are real people operating from their biotechnology facility with a focus on customer care and quality control.

Within the NV Biotech building they house their ISO Class 5 capable clean room laboratory where they formulate and bottle all their products. This uniquely allows complete in house control over quality and precision in the formulation of their product range. They then send a sample of each product batch for testing to ensure accuracy.

The Canavape team have been working together for over 3 years. We believe all Cannabinoid based products should be produced in a certified clean environment. NV Biotech are proud members of the CTAUK.

  • What is the Endocannabinoid System?

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a group of endogenous cannabinoid receptors located in the mammalian brain and throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems, consisting of neuromodulatory lipids and their receptors. Known as “the body’s own cannabinoid system the ECS is involved in a variety of physiological processes including appetite, pain-sensation, mood, and memory, and in mediating the psychoactive effects of cannabis (especially THC!)

Two primary endocannabinoid receptors have been identified: CB1, first cloned in 1990; and CB2, cloned in 1993. CB1 receptors are found predominantly in the brain and nervous system, as well as in peripheral organs and tissues, and are the main molecular target of the endocannabinoid ligand (binding molecule), Anandamide, as well as its mimetic phytocannabinoid, THC. One other main endocannabinoid is 2-Arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) which is active at both cannabinoid receptors, along with its own mimetic phytocannabinoid, CBD. 2-AG and CBD are involved in the regulation of appetite, immune system functions and pain management.

  • There is some orange stuff in my E Liquid! What is it? Is it normal?

We are quite often asked in the winter months what the orange stuff is! Its hemp oil, a key component of our CBD E Liquid at the moment. The cold weather can make it separate slightly during transit so just allow it to get to room temperature and shake for 1 – 2 minutes.

We use this fully vape safe oil because it contains a host of cannabinoids, not just one! Its highly beneficial VS CBD only products. In coming months we will focus on a spectrum of cannabinoids which may lower this oil level significantly.

  • Does it work for X medical condition?

Our products are not intended to diagnose, treat or cure any illness or disease. These statements have not been evaluated by the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) or the FDA or any other equivalent body. Because of this, can’t make any claims about what CBD Hemp Oil can do or may do for you. But, we CAN pass along that we have numerous customers using our products regularly for things such as: Cancer, Epilepsy, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pain, Arthritis, Insomnia, Anxiety, Migraines and so much more. While CBD doesn’t help everyone with their condition, we have many people who return regularly for reorders. The only way you’ll know if it will help you is to try it. (If you need further advice, your doctor or medical practitioner might be able to help.)

Again, we at Fightstore Ireland do not make any claims as to the medical benefits of our products and any links from our website are not an endorsement of said websites. Our products are sold as dietary supplements and are sold without any supplementary information.

  • How Much Should I Take?

Unfortunately, there is no definitive scientific answer to this. Truly it requires some trial and error to get the right amount for you and your condition. But, with patience and practice, you should be able to get to that “happy point” in just a few days of working with it.

The approach we recommend is to begin taking a particular amount, twice a day for the first 3-4 days to build it up in your system and so you can truly see what its doing. After this amount of time, increase or decrease the amount you’re taking based on the results you’re seeing.

Canavape® are proud to only produce only the best quality CBD and CBG E-liquids as well as others cannabinoid brands. All hemp oils and Isolates used in the manufacture of Canavape products are high in either CBD, CBG or said Cannabinoid.

Mariusz Brozda and Ger Kennedy impress at ‘The New Bloods III’

The UFC wasn’t the only combat event that struck Dublin on Saturday night.

‘The New Bloods III’ Muay Thai show may not have been as glamourous as the UFC, let alone comprised of guests like Conor McGregor, but the fighters at the Kilnamanagh Community Centre possessed the same courage and desire to win as the pros across the city in the 3Arena.

And speaking of pros, Kamikaze’s Mariusz Brozda made his professional C-Class Thai debut against Hammerhead’s Diarmuid Dunne in Tallaght at 70kg.

Baroza was notorious as an amateur with a reputation for executing consecutive first round KO’s.

His first pro clash didn’t go to plan though, as the judges controversially awarded the taller Dunne the decision.

But Brozda produced an exciting performance. His low centre of gravity mixed with powerful punches was reminiscent of a Mike Tyson style of fighting.

In round three Brozda landed a stunning overhand right to the chin which knocked his opponent down.Mariusz Brozda and Ger Kennedy impress at ‘The New Bloods III’

Dunne deserves credit for rising from the canvas and continuing to battle.

In the final two rounds he endured some heavy blows but he also had success with the clinch.

When Dunne was given the decision following five tough rounds, Brozda, despite being disappointed to be denied victory, was gracious in defeat and immediately congratulated his fellow fighter.

Mariusz Brozda, in particular his infamous hands, are ones to look out for on the fight scene in the future.

The other highlight of the night was crowd favourite and 309’s own Ger Kennedy’s amateur contest against Warriors’Anthony O’Gorman at the 70kg limit.

When Kennedy approached the ring the audience erupted with noise. Along with being Mr popular that evening, he had the skills required to warrant his overwhelming support.

When the opening bell was about to sound, O’Gorman smiled to his coaches, an expression that symbolised the realisation that the audience craved his downfall and one that emphasized his determination to take on the challenge.

But in the end, his mental strength wasn’t enough to succeed. Kennedy was too clever and clinical throughout the five rounds.

O’Gorman kept attempting a push kick to the mid-section but Kennedy was ruthless enough to catch the leg with one hand and fire a punch with the other to floor his opponent. Kennedy scored three knock downs in total.

After the sensational spectacle, Ger Kennedy spoke exclusively to FightstorePROi.

Asked about the atmosphere, Kennedy reflected: “It’s great when you have the home crowd with you. I have to say the atmosphere was brilliant right through the whole fight. It’s what kept me going.”

He also spoke of the durability of his opponent.

“He (O’Gorman) just kept coming back no matter what I threw at him. In the third round he caught me with a good dig and I was seeing stars. I shook it off with the crowd and came back,” said the delighted fighter.

Kennedy concluded by stating that he thrives under the support of the audience instead of being pressured by it.

He added: “You kind of tune out but when you hear them cheering and when you’re in a bit of trouble it motivates you to go again and again.”

‘The New Bloods III’ show had everything you would expect from a Muay Thai event.

Brutal finishes, teenagers with potential to go far, close encounters, an exhilarated crowd and an overall good night of entertainment provided by the sport appropriately known as the art of eight limbs.
